چکیده

Turbulence is still an unsolved issue with enormous implications in several fields, from the turbulent wakes on moving objects to accumulation of heat built environment or optimization performances exchangers mixers. This review deals techniques and trends flow simulations, which can be achieved through both laboratory numerical modeling. As a matter fact, even if term “experiment” commonly employed for “simulation” techniques, try simulate real-world flows performing experiments under controlled conditions. The main target this paper provide overview investigate flows, useful research technical community also involved energy field (often non-specialist investigations), highlighting advantages disadvantages as well their fields application, highlight above mentioned methodologies via bibliometric analysis. Numerical Methods to Simulate Turbulent Dispersed Flows in Complex Geometries

Population Balance is a prominent ingredient of modeling transport phenomena. Population Balance Equations (PBEs) are coupled to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to simulate turbulent dispersed flows. One of the arising challenges is to obtain an appropriate discretization technique for the internal coordinate of PBEs, so the resulting equations can lead to acceptable solutions with affordabl...

Numerical simulation of turbulent compressible flows in a C-D nozzle with different divergence angles

Compressible gas flow inside a convergent-divergent nozzle and its exhaust plume atdifferent nozzle pressure ratios (NPR) have been numerically studied with severalturbulence models. The numerical results reveal that, the SST k–ω model give the bestresults compared with other models in time and accuracy. The effect of changes in value ofdivergence half-angle (ε ) on the nozzle performance, thru...

Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Bubbly Flows

A mathematical model for turbulent gas-liquid flows with mass transfer and chemical reactions is presented and a robust solution strategy based on nested iterations is proposed for the numerical treatment of the intricately coupled PDEs. In particular, the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved by a discrete projection scheme from the family of Pressure Schur Complement methods. Nove...

Large numerical simulations of turbulent rotating flows

Scientific context Rotation, as measured by the Rossby number (the ratio of the rotation period to the eddy turn over time) is present in astroand geophysics. For example, the high Reynolds number large scales of atmospheric and oceanic flows are affected by the rotation of the Earth; the Rossby number Ro = U0/[L0Ω] for mid-latitude atmospheric synoptic scales is Ro ≈ 0.1 whereas in the solar c...

Application of Taylor series expansion and Least-squares-based lattice Boltzmann method to simulate turbulent flows

Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) has become an alternative method of computing a variety of fluid flows, ranging from low Reynolds number laminar flows to highly turbulent flows. For turbulent flows, non-uniform grids are preferred. Taylor series expansionand least-squares-based LBM (TLLBM) is an effective and convenient way to extend standard LBM to be used on arbitrary meshes. In order to show ...
